Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS 2025 State Quota admission process covers 85% of medical and dental seats in
Government and Self-Financing colleges across the state. Candidates must be natives of Tamil Nadu, have
completed +2 with Biology, Physics, and Chemistry, and qualified in NEET UG 2025 to apply. The admission
follows strict reservation norms, including the 7.5% special reservation for Government School students.
The entire process—from application to seat allotment—is conducted online via tnmedicalselection.net,
with separate rank lists published for General and Special Categories like Sports, Ex-Servicemen, and
Persons with Disabilities. Students must keep all original documents ready and follow the counselling
schedule carefully to secure their dream MBBS/BDS seat.
Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS 2025 - Eligibility Criteria (State, Management,
Minority & NRI Quotas)
1. Basic Eligibility (Applicable to All Categories)
- Candidates must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December 2025.
- NEET UG 2025 qualification is mandatory for all candidates.
- Must have passed 10+2 / HSC or equivalent with the following subjects:
- Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Botany-Zoology, and English.
- Minimum qualifying marks in PCB subjects combined:
- 50% for General category
- 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates
- 45% for Persons with Disabilities (UR) and 40% for PwD in SC/ST/OBC
2. Eligibility for State Quota Seats (85%)
- Candidates must be natives of Tamil Nadu.
- Students from other states who studied in Tamil Nadu from Class 6 to 12 may also apply under certain
conditions.
- Community Certificate (for reserved categories) and Nativity Certificate (if applicable) must be
uploaded.
- Government School students can avail 7.5% special reservation across all communities.
3. Eligibility for Management Quota (Including Minority/NRI) in Self-Financing
Medical/Dental Colleges
- General Management Quota (MQ):
- Must have appeared and qualified in NEET-UG 2025.
- Can be from any state in India - no nativity restriction.
- Should have passed 12th or equivalent with required subjects (Physics, Chemistry,
Biology/Biotechnology + English).
- Minimum marks in PCB:
- 50% for General Category
- 40% for BC/MBC/SC/ST/SCA
- 45% for Persons with Disabilities (OC)
4. Eligibility for Minority Seats
- Linguistic Minority Seats:
- Only natives of Tamil Nadu with Telugu or Malayalam as mother tongue are eligible.
- Must submit a study certificate with language details from the last studied institution
(Annexure I(a)).
- Religious Minority (Christian) Seats:
- Native Tamil Nadu candidates belonging to Christian religion.
- Must upload a Christian Community Certificate issued by competent revenue authority
(Annexure I(b)).
- For CMC Vellore, 50% seats will be filled by the college as per NEET merit, with 10% of
those for children of staff.
5. Eligibility for NRI Quota Seats
- Candidates must be:
- Indian citizens settled abroad
- OR children of Indian-origin parents born abroad
- OR wards of NRIs / persons deputed abroad by Govt or PSUs
- Must hold a valid Indian passport.
- Should have completed +2 or equivalent with:
- Minimum 50% in Biology/Botany & Zoology/Biotech, and
- Minimum 50% in Physics and Chemistry, studied in English medium.
- Documents to be uploaded:
- NRI status proof from Indian Embassy / OCI card
- Relationship certificate from Revenue authority
- NRI bank account passbook
- OCI candidates must upload OCI card, birth certificate, parent's passport, ward certificate,
and marksheets.
6. Non-Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates who do not submit the Eligibility Certificate from Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical
University (if studied in boards other than State/CBSE/ISC) will be rejected.
- Students already studying MBBS or BDS in Tamil Nadu, other Indian states, or abroad are not eligible
to reapply for the same course.
- Candidates from open schooling or private study mode or with Biology as an additional subject are
provisionally allowed subject to Supreme Court decision.

Admission Procedure for MBBS/BDS 2025-2026
(Management/Minority/NRI Quota in Tamil Nadu)
1. Basis of Admission
- Admission is based on NEET-UG 2025 scores.
- Applicable for Management/Minority/NRI Quota in Self-Financing Medical/Dental Colleges and CMC
Vellore.
- NEET qualification alone does not guarantee admission—other eligibility criteria must be met.

3. Seat Distribution
- 15% of Management Quota seats reserved for NRI category.
- Unfilled NRI seats will be reverted in Round 3.
- Minority seats filled as per the Linguistic/Religious Rank List.
- If insufficient minority candidates, seats revert to General Management Quota.

Round-Wise Key Points
- Round 1
- Registration Fee: ₹1,000 + ₹1,00,000 Security Deposit
- All registered candidates can participate.
- Not-joined/Resigned candidates can continue to next rounds.
- Round 2
- No new registration for already registered candidates.
- Fresh registration allowed for new candidates.
- Upgraded candidates must join the new seat.
- Candidates who discontinue after this round will forfeit fees.
- Round 3
- Fresh registration allowed for new eligible candidates.
- No upgradation or resignation allowed after joining Round 3.
- Not joining = fee forfeiture and no further participation.
- Candidates joined till Round 3 of AIQ/State Quota become ineligible for further rounds.
- Stray Vacancy Round
- Only for non-seat holding candidates.
- Security Deposit: ₹5L (MBBS), ₹2L (BDS)
- Non-refundable if seat is allotted but not joined.
- Not joining = blacklisted for 1 year from TN UG Medical Counselling.

- Impersonation or false documents = cancellation + legal action.
- Joined list tracking: Candidates joined in Round 3 cannot participate further.
- Selection Committee is not responsible for approvals of private colleges. Candidates must verify
independently.
